Project description
Bear River First Nation (BRFN), located in Nova Scotia, is a vibrant Mi’kmaq community dedicated to preserving their cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development. Known for its strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, BRFN continuously engages in initiatives that support economic growth, community well-being, and protecting natural resources.
21FSP was engaged by BRFN to develop a comprehensive Feasibility & Business Case Assessment as part of their broader Ocean Clean Up Initiative.
This significant project aimed to evaluate the viability and strategic potential of the Ocean Clean Up, providing a solid foundation for informed decision-making and long-term planning.
The project involved benchmarking and a jurisdictional scan to gather relevant data and best practices from similar initiatives globally. 21FSP also conducted a comprehensive outreach and engagement process involving consultations with community members, stakeholders, and experts in the field.
Core business model development was a critical component of the project, focusing on creating a sustainable and effective framework for the Ocean Clean Up Initiative. We undertook a market analysis to understand the economic landscape and identify potential opportunities.
The final report outlined the feasibility of the initiative, providing detailed analysis and recommendations to guide BRFN in the implementation and scaling of their Ocean Clean Up efforts.
